Working on *BIG* Shepherd Update

Our game Shepherd has been on the AppStore for about 8 months or so now, and with the work on Frutorious finished we felt it was time to go back and make it better.

First, a graphics overhaul.  The original art was ported from Shepherd’s first incarnation – a PC game Charlie made in 1997.

It’s got a cool chunky charm, but a bit of a fiddle here and there and we’ve made it a lot more colourful and a lot more detailed.  Here’s a sneak preview… old versions on the right, new versions on the left.

Now that looks a bit more like we want.  A smidge more vibrancy to our little sheep stealing aliens.

We’ve also had a HUGE amount of help from our friend Rob Fearon who has lovingly completely re-worked all our weapons and and power-up screens, as well as our Game Over screen.  Here’s another split comparison between the old art and the redux art…

We’re also looking into making the game much easier, giving the player the option to remove the need to tilt the screen to pan the camera.  This A.I. camera will mean that you’ll be able to concentrate more on the screen-filling chain-killing!  We’ll probably keep the tilt camera in as an option for the hard-core, but this will definitely make the game a lot more accessible for players.

We’ll keep you posted with more news for Shepherd: Redux soon!
